City Government

Every odd-numbered year, three of the six part-time Tucson City Council members come up for re-election to four-year terms. In each ward during the primary elections, candidates are selected from each party. But in the general election, all city voters choose from among the candidates in all wards. Every four years Tucsonans also elect a part-time mayor. The City Council then selects or retains a salaried full-time city manager.

If you would like to let the mayor and Council know what you think about a local issue, you can phone and leave a message on the Mayor and Council comment line. These messages are transcribed regularly and passed along to all members of the City Council. 791-4700.
